FRISCO — UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox was named Southland Conference Indoor Coach of the Year for the seventh consecutive season, the league office announced on Thursday.
Fox led the Roadrunners men to an unprecedented seventh straight Southland title last weekend in Norman, Okla. Led by a league-record-tying six individual champions, UTSA scored 134 points, which was second-highest total in school history. The victory broke the Roadrunners' tie with Lamar, which won six crowns in a row from 1980-85.
The half dozen gold medals pushed the program's all-time total to 62 and 38 of those have come during Fox's 10-year tenure.
"The success we've experienced the last several years would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes and assistant coaches," he said. "I'm extremely humbled and thankful that my peers have chosen me for this award the last seven years."
UTSA will be back in action at next weekend's NCAA Championships in Nampa, Idaho. The two-day meet gets underway on Friday, March 9.
