Carreon captures Greater San Antonio Women’s City Championship

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA freshman Camryn Carreon won the Greater San Antonio Women's City Championship for the third time in the last four years over the weekend at Brackenridge Golf Course.
 
Carreon carded a 6-under-par 136 for a six-shot win ahead of fellow Roadrunner Hannah Holzmann, who fired an even-par 142 for runner-up honors.
 
Carreon opened the two-day tournament with a 5-under 66 on Saturday. The San Antonio native wrote down six birdies, including three on each side, in building a comfortable lead on the field. She secured the win by posting a 1-under 70 in Sunday's final round, which featured 17 pars and a birdie on the par-5 12th hole.
 
Meanwhile, Holzmann turned in a 1-under 70 in the final round after opening with a 72 on Saturday. The sophomore from San Antonio recorded a tournament-best eight birdies en route to taking second place at the 36-hole event.
