Roadrunners come up short to Mavericks

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to UT Arlington Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
 
The Roadrunners won the doubles point to start. Jasmin Starr and Keegan McCain won their match 6-3 at No. 2, followed by Aleksandra Zlatarova and Sophie Omoworare defeating their opponent 7-5 at No. 1 to garner the point.
 
In singles, Zlatarova topped her opponent 6-2, 6-1 as UTSA led 2-0. The Mavericks won the next four points at No. 5, 3, 4 and 6, respectively, to take the lead and clinch the match. Closing out singles was Starr with a 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 victory at No. 1.
 
The Roadrunners have added a match on Friday and will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. to close out the regular season.
