Gonzalez earns top-10 finish at Dale McNamara Invitational

TULSA, Okla. — Ana Gonzalez registered her 12th career top-10 finish to lead the UTSA women's golf team to ninth place at the Dale McNamara Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday at the Golf Club of Oklahoma (par 72/6,235 yards).

Gonzalez finished in sole possession of ninth place at even par to lead the Roadrunners to a 902 (298-302-302), one shot ahead of host Tulsa and four in front of Texas State in the 13-team field. UTSA finished only two strokes behind SMU and three back of New Mexico State in the team race won by UNLV (861).

Gonzalez posted her second 1-over-par 73 of the week in the final round on Tuesday behind a pair of birdies. That came after she closed out a 2-under 70 that featured four birdies on a five-hole stretch on the back nine of a round that was suspended due to darkness on Monday and resumed on Tuesday morning. The four-time all-conference performer led the entire field in par-4 scoring (-3) and ended the 54-hole event just four shots behind individual medalists Sydney Bryan of UNLV and Hailey Jones of Oklahoma State.

Hunter Nugent matched her teammate with a 73 in the final round on the strength of three birdies. After opening with an 80 on Monday morning, the junior transfer from Canada posted a 74 in the second round before turning in her best scorecard of the tournament to finish in a tie for 39th (227).

Nicole Polivchak tied for 45th with a 229 (72-79-78) that was highlighted by an even-par opening round on Monday, while Camryn Carreon was one shot behind her with a share of 47th at 230 (73-79-78). Hannah Holzmann closed out the UTSA lineup in a tie for 68th (80-80-81—241).

The tournament concludes the fall season for the Roadrunners.
