Gonzalez paces UTSA on second day of Tulane Classic

NEW ORLEANS — Ana Gonzalez posted a 3-over-par scorecard to lead the UTSA women's golf team on the second day of the Tulane Classic on Monday at English Turn Golf and Country Club (par 72/6,178 yards).
 
Gonzalez turned in a 75 to help the Roadrunners record a 306 in the second round, putting them in fifth place (617). UTSA is three strokes in front of SMU and six ahead of a tie for seventh place between Boston College and host Tulane.
 
Gonzalez had 13 pars and a birdie on the 516-yard, par-5 second hole to highlight her second round and move into a tie for 20th place in the tournament at 10-over 154.
 
Hannah Holzmann is the top Roadrunner, as the San Antonio native has a share of 15th place at 9-over 153. The all-conference performer followed a 76 on Sunday with a 77 today that was highlighted by three birdies, giving her a team-high eight through 36 holes.
 
Camryn Carreon and Nicole Polivchak are part of a deadlock for 23rd at 11-over 155, as each player registered a 77 on Monday after opening with a 78. 
 
Hunter Nugent rounds out the UTSA lineup in a tie for 51st (81-80—161).
 
North Texas leads the team standings at 584 behind a three-way tie for the individual lead at 1-over 145 between Audrey Tan, Patricia Sinolungan and Ellie Roth, followed by No. 10 Michigan (607) and 34th-ranked Clemson (609).
 
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
