UTSA heads to Norman to face Oklahoma

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA (10-2) is set to travel to Norman, Okla. and face the Oklahoma Sooners (6-5) this weekend for a three-game series

The weekend series, initially set for a Friday-Sunday format, has been changed to a Saturday-Sunday format with a doubleheader on Sunday to combat the Friday weather in Oklahoma.

The two schools will be meeting for their second all-time series this weekend. The two schools had a two-game series in 2003 where the two schools split the pair of games in Norman.

UTSA enters this weekend's series coming off of a solid week of games where the Roadrunners went 3-1. Last weekend UTSA won its series over SWAC preseason favorite Southern 2-1 and on Tuesday UTSA defeated cross-town foe UIW, 6-0

Tuesday's game against UIW was dominated by UTSA's pitching as Luke Malone and Simon Miller combined to shut out the Cardinals and allowed only five hits between the two of them. The shutout was the Roadrunners' third on the season

The Sooners enter this weekend's series having a plethora of games against quality teams under their belt at this point in the early season. Oklahoma boasts wins over Auburn, Michigan and Wichita State and has also played LSU, UCLA and Tennessee.

UTSA has scored 114 runs throughout the season and has only allowed 57 runs. The 114 runs rank 22nd nationally and UTSA's 9.5 runs scored per game ranks 18th. UTSA enters the weekend series tied for having the 14th highest batting average in all of college baseball with .325.
