UTSA to travel to Dallas for Trinity Forest Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's golf team will travel to Dallas to play in the Trinity Forest Invitational, which will be hosted by SMU on Monday-Tuesday, March 7-8, at Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 72/6,460 yards).

The Roadrunners will compete against Dallas Baptist, Memphis, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Illinois, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB, UNLV, USF, UTEP and the host Mustangs. The field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round is slated for Tuesday.

UTSA is coming off a third-place finish at the Tulane Classic last month in New Orleans. Camryn Carreon led the way by finishing in a tie for sixth place (78-77-71—226), while Ana Gonzalez and Hannah Holzmann placed 12th (79-75-74—228) and 14th (76-77-76—229), respectively.

Carreon paces the Roadrunners with a 73.22 stroke average this season to go along with four top-25 finishes. Hunter Nugent is close behind with a 73.61 mark and one top-10 finish in which she fired an 8-under 208 (70-71-67), while Gonzalez owns a 73.78 average this season and is the program's career record-holder at 73.84.

The Roadrunners finished eighth at last year's Trinity Forest Invitational, the first event for the squad after the 2019-20 season was shut down in March due to the COVID=19 pandemic. Carreon tied for 11th place with a 222 (76-74-72) and Nicole Polivchak was 22nd (77-76-73—226) at that event last February.
