UTSA falls in home match against UT Arlington

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team fell to UT Arlington, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.  
 
After Aleksandra Zlatarova and Magda Tuells won the No. 1 court over the Mavs' Tara Gorinsek and Ana Paula Jimenez by 6-1, the next two courts were won by UT Arlington as they secured the doubles point. The duo of Adeliya Mukhutdinova and Stanislava Bobrovnikova fell to UTA's duo of Liz Chileno and Sarina Reinertsen, 6-1 at the No. 2 court. Alexandra Weir and Fatima Gutierrez fell at the final court to Bruna Casasampere and Francisca Vergara by a final score of 6-4. 
 
Zlatarova continues to dominate at the top spot, defeating Chileno by set scores of 6-3 and 6-1 and improving to a 12-2 record in singles action. This would be the only point the Roadrunners won in the match. The Mavs took the 2-1 lead as Mukhutdinova fell to Casasampere at the fourth court, 6-2 and 6-4. Gutierrez then fell to Reinertsen by set scores of 6-4 and 6-2. UT Arlington clinched the winning point with a victory at the second court as Gorinsek defeated Weir by both scores of 6-4. The last two courts still played out. Tuells fell to Paula Jimenez at the No. 5 spot, 6-2 and 7-5. Lastly, Eva Beyebach fell to Vergara at the sixth court (6-3, 4-6, 6-10) as UTSA fell to UT Arlington, 6-1.
 
UTSA's record falls to 8-7 overall, while UT Arlington improves to a 7-2 record.  
 
UP NEXT: The Roadrunners host two straight C-USA matches at the UTSA Tennis Center, hosting North Texas on March 11 and WKU on March 13.
