UTSA Women's Basketball receives invitation to WNIT

The Roadrunners will return to the postseason for the first time since the 2008-09 season

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — For the first time since the 2008-09 season, the UTSA women's basketball team will play in the postseason after the WNIT officially announced on Sunday that the Roadrunners will receive an at-large bid in its field of 48.

This will be UTSA's third time playing in a postseason tournament and its first appearance in the WNIT after previously making the NCAA Tournament following Southland Conference Tournament Championships in 2008 and 2009. Additionally, the Roadrunners will be searching for their first postseason win in the program's history.

The selection comes after a season that's seen UTSA go 17-14, including a mark of 10-8 in its inaugural American Athletic Conference campaign. The squad's 17 victories represent the most since the 2008-09 team went 24-9. UTSA has also cemented a winning season for the first time since 2014-15, and it last posted a positive conference mark in 2016-17.

The WNIT will release the full bracket with matchups and locations on Monday afternoon, and updates can be found at https://womensnit.com/. The 2024 Postseason WNIT will again have its championship game broadcast on CBS Sports Network, with tipoff set for Saturday, April 6, at 3 p.m. ET.
