SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men’s and women’s cross country will get back to competition this Friday, Oct. 18, as both squads are set to compete in the Arturo Barrios Invitational at the Watts Cross Country Course, hosted by Texas A&M.
Competition will start with the men’s 8k race at 8:30 a.m., while the women’s 6k follows at 9:15 a.m. UTSA will see a very large contingent, 24 runners competing in College Station. For the men, it will be Victor Charo, Dominick Landin, Gabe Lopez, Diego Ramirez, Idol Ramon, O.J. Ruiz, Cortlin Salge, Gabe Tubbs, AJ Tyler and Carter Williams. For the UTSA women, Abby Barraza, Sidney Bravo, Estefania Colchado, Chante Dixon, Mariella Gadberry, Jadyn Gonzales, Megan Groeschel, Savannah Lopez, Jadelyn Maleisch, Lisa Pelletier, Itzel Rojo, Brooke Veltman, Emma Wallace and Aubry Ybarra will take the course on Friday morning.
A near-annual event for the Roadrunners making the trip for the fourth consecutive year, the Arturo Barrios will feature 40 teams with over 800 combined entries. Last time out, the Roadrunners finished in seventh place at the Cougar Challenge in San Marcos, Calif. AJ Tyler led the Roadrunners with a time of 25:01.2 in 19th place. The women closed out with a sixth-place finish, with Jadelyn Malesich leading the team on a 19th-place 6k time of 22:19.7.
UTSA’s next date on the course will be up north in Wichita, Kan., competing in the American Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 2.
