UTSA wraps regular season competition at Arturo Barrios

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — UTSA Cross Country closed out its regular season in College Station on Friday morning at the Arturo Barrios Invitational at Texas A&M’s Watts Cross Country Course. The Roadrunners competed against 41 teams on the women’s side and 38 in the men’s race featuring some of the finest runners in the region.

The men started the day off with their 8k race as senior AJ Tyler led the team with a new career time of 24:37.1 in 158th, beating out his previous best from Sept. 28 at the Cougar Challenge. OJ Ruiz finished sixteen seconds later (24:53.2) in 201st. Next for UTSA was Idol Ramon (328th, 26:08.8), Diego Ramirez (338th, 26:31.7), Victor Charo (345th, 26:50.8), Cortlin Salge (351st, 27:19.9), Dominick Landin (354th, 27:23.2) and Gabe Tubbs (365th, 28:41.9).

The women were next up with the 6k race. Taking lead for the third consecutive meet this season, Jadelyn Malesich came in with a time of 22.47.7 at 284th. Rounding out UTSA’s performances were Chante Dixon (291st, 22:52.4), Jadyn Gonzales (330th, 23:24.2), Itzel Rojo (336th, 23.29.9), Emma Wallace (341st, 23:37.0), Sidney Bravo (343rd, 23:41.9), Brooke Veltman (360th, 24:09.5), Savannah Lopez (361st, 24.09.6), Aubry Ybarra (376th, 24:36.9), Abby Barraza (377th, 24:46.7), Megan Groeschel (382nd, 24:56.3), Mariella Gadberry (384th, 25:22.7) and Estafania Colchado (394th, 27:11.2).

With all 2024 regular-season meets all in the books, UTSA’s next date on the course will be up north in Wichita, Kansas, competing in the American Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 2 at Wichita State’s Clapp Cross Country Course.
