SAN ANTONIO – On Monday, UTSA head volleyball coach Carol Price-Torok officially announced the signing of Megan Hawkins, who will play in the Convocation Center following a freshman season at Louisiana.

A highly decorated athlete from Greater San Antonio, Hawkins starred at Canyon High School, earning a letter in all four seasons. She collected a wealth of accolades with the Cougars, including a trio of District MVP distinctions, a 2021 MaxPreps Second-Team All-America nod, and a 2023 AVCA First-Team All-America award. Hawkins also collected three TGCA All-State honors, two THSCA Super Elite Team picks, and a 2023 AVCA Best and Brightest selection.
She totaled 3,675 assists, with 1,423 digs and 263 aces en route to four District Championships and a 2021 UIL State semifinal appearance that saw her crack the All-Tournament team. She also got the job done in the classroom, graduating with a 3.70 GPA, and picked up four Academic All-District awards. Additionally, she clubbed with the Tri-County Volleyball Association and Alamo Volleyball Association.
At Louisiana, she saw action in 97 sets that featured 536 assists, 248 digs, 30 aces and 14 double-doubles. A standout performance came against Southern Miss when Hawkins tallied 32 assists and 24 digs.
She is the daughter of Jessica and Scott Hawkins and has a brother, Mason, and a sister, Madison. She comes from an athletic background, with her grandfather James Wingate playing Major League Baseball in Cleveland and her uncle John Wingate playing football for New Mexico. At UTSA, she will study marketing with the goal of entering a career in pharmaceutical sales.
