UTSA track announces signing of Mifri Veso

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox has announced on Tuesday, January 14, that the Roadrunners are welcoming Italian triple jump champion Mifri Veso to the squad for the upcoming 2025 season.

"It’s exciting to bring another talented athlete into our elite jump squad with Mifri Veso. Her championship experience will prove to be an invaluable foundation as she reaches for her potential both on the runway and in the classroom,” Fox said.

Adding another Italian to the Roadrunners’ ranks, Veso hails from Pordenone, and is fresh off her second consecutive silver-medal performance at the Italian U20 Outdoor Championships, this July in Rieti and last year in Grosseto – also placing 12th in the long jump at this year’s championship meet. Veso earned gold at 2023 Italian U20 Indoor Championships in the triple with an indoor-best skip of 12.88m (42-3.25). Hitting a career-long 12.97m (42-6.75) in the triple, Veso claimed the 2022 Italian Regional Club Championships title in Pordenone and earned her best long jump of 6.01m (19-8.6) at the 2022 Campionati Studenteschi, while also winning the Campionati Regionali Individuali Allievi e Juniores in the triple this season. Representing Italy at the  European Athletics U20 Championships, she placed ninth in Jerusalem in both 2023 and 2024.
