DALLAS – The UTSA men’s tennis team (5-8) fell to the No. 63 SMU (11-10) on Wednesday afternoon at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex in a 4-0 road loss amidst four games away from home.
The Roadrunners and Mustangs scrapped it out in the doubles matches. SMU picked up the initial win on the third court, but on two Danijal Muminovic and Oskar Grzegorzewski evened things up with a 6-3 victory over Trevor Svajda and Louis Cloud. However, the doubles point ultimately came down to a tiebreaker on the first court, as 63rd-ranked Tiago Torres and Miguel Alonso fell 7-6 to Georgi Georgiev and Ofek Shimanov with a 7-3 setback in the tiebreaker.
The singles never got on track for the Roadrunners, as SMU claimed all six opening sets and went on to sweep for the 4-0 win with victories on courts six, three and then one.
