SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will travel to Arizona to compete in the Clover Cup, which will be hosted by Notre Dame on Monday-Wednesday, March 10-12, at Wigwam Resort’s Blue Course in Litchfield Park.
The Roadrunners will carry a lineup of Daniela Abonce, Olivia Williams, Morgan Ellison, Lauren Rios and Maria Bastarrica for the 54-hole, stroke-play event for what will be their first appearance in the Clover Cup.
UTSA will face No. 8 Arizona State, No. 43 Clemson, Colorado State, Indiana, Kennesaw State, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, No. 16 Texas A&M, Toledo, UNC Wilmington and the host Fighting Irish.
The field will play 18 holes each day.
This will mark the third tournament of the spring for the Roadrunners, who registered their best 54-hole total of the season with a 5-under-par 859 (287-286-286) while placing ninth at the Chevron Collegiate on Feb. 24-25 at the Golf Club of Houston. Abonce led the way by tying for 12th with a 6-under 210 (72-68-70).
Abonce paces the Roadrunners with a 73.76 stroke average over 21 rounds this season. The junior from Mexico and reigning American Athletic Conference champion has logged seven par-or-better scorecards this season including a pair of sub-70 rounds.
Ellison owns the top spring season scoring mark at 73.0 to go with a 74.17 overall average during her senior campaign. The Georgia native boasts five top-30 finishes and six par-or-better rounds in 2024-25.
Rios has registered a 74.17 stroke average over six rounds this spring. The Coppell, Texas, native turned in a 1-under 71 in the opening round of the Chevron Collegiate for her top score of the season.
Williams totes a 74.76 scoring mark in 21 rounds this season and a top finish of fifth at the Diane Thomason Invitational last fall.
Bastarrica, a native of Spain, has tallied a 76.57 average and a best finish of 25th in seven events during her sophomore season.
