UTSA fell 8-0 at the hands of East Carolina

SAN ANTONIO – On Sunday, the UTSA softball team lost 8-0 at the hands of East Carolina in American Athletic Conference play at Roadrunner Field, despite carrying a no-hit bid into the sixth inning.

The Roadrunners (12-10, 0-3 The American) fell to the Pirates (15-8, 3-0 The American), with redshirt sophomore Madison Collins (1-4) getting tagged with the loss while Jordan Hatch (1-0) earned the win for ECU.

Junior Madison Hornback and senior Lindsey Davis each posted multiple hits on the afternoon, with Hornback and sophomore Taryn Madlock lacing doubles.

The Pirates pushed a run across in the third, as a walk and a Roadrunner miscue opened the scoring. ECU did most of their damage in the sixth, with their first base hit sparking a rally that led to a 7-0 lead. They added another insurance run in the seventh, carrying an 8-0 advantage into the home half. The 'Runners were unable to push a run across as ECU secured a series finale victory.

UTSA will now focus on UT Arlington, with a Tuesday night bout set for 6 p.m. at Allan Saxe Softball Field.
