WICHITA, Kan. — UTSA completes the series sweep with the 5-1 victory over Wichita State on Sunday, Apr. 13 at Eck Stadium in Wichita, Kan. This was the Roadrunners’ second American Athletic Conference series sweep of the season.

Wichita State struck first, taking their first lead of the series on a solo home run in the first inning. In the fourth inning, Drew Detlefsen picked up a two-out single. Jordan Ballin then drew a walk to put two runners on. The designated hitter, Broc Parmer, singled up the middle to score Detlefsen and even the game at 1-1.
In the top of the sixth, Andrew Stucky led off the inning with a hit-by-pitch. Detlefsen got his second hit of the day to put two roadrunners on the base paths. Ballin grounded out to the first baseman but was able to advance the runners into scoring position. Stucky gave UTSA the lead as he scored on a wild pitch.
A walk from Parmer put runners on the corners for UTSA. Diego Diaz picked up his third RBI of the season on a single up the middle that scored Detlefsen and advanced Parmer to third. Caden Miller then hit another single up the middle, this time scoring Parmer. Wichita State intentionally walked Mason Lytle, loading the bases for James Taussig, who drew an eight-pitch walk to put UTSA up 5-1.
Conor Myles started on the mound for the Roadrunners and threw a career-long seven innings, only allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts on 83 pitches. Connor Kelley was the man called upon to relieve Myles in the eighth inning. Kelley tossed the final two innings of the game allowing just two hits and three strikeouts. The UTSA pitching staff tossed eight consecutive scoreless innings.
