About the Roadrunners
Ranked as the No. 6 seed, the UTSA Roadrunners closed the regular season on a four-match win streak to reach 11-10 in the first season under Sasha Gozun, collecting a 10-win season for the fifth consecutive year while winning five of their final six outings. UTSA topped No. 69 Rice, Prairie View A&M twice and then concluded at home against Grand Canyon.
The strongest records in singles for the Roadrunners have been steady throughout the year, as senior Danijal Muminovic, rookie Oskar Grzegorzewski and 105th-ranked senior Tiago Torres each have 10 wins to top the Roadrunners, going 10-6, 10-5, 10-4, respectively. Torres has won four straight and sits at the third-highest singles national ranking in the conference. Leading in doubles wins, Ben Chetewy Ungar and Grzegorzewski are 5-7 together. Miguel Alonso and Torres together went 4-2, but Alonso with Muminovic has provided a 3-0 stretch at the back end of the season. Alonso is 10-2 in doubles this spring season.
Series Against Tulane
Looking for their first series win against the Green Wave since 2010, the Roadrunners will face Tulane for the ninth time overall and in back-to-back seasons. UTSA dropped a 4-2 AAC Championships setback to Tulane last April in Tulsa. Heading into the tournament, Tulane leads the series 7-1 and is 5-0 in neutral matches. The lone UTSA series win came in March 2010, as UTSA registered a 4-3 win in New Orleans.
About the Tulane Green Wave
Ranked as the No. 11 seed, Tulane is 5-16 this year under 16th-season head coach Mark Booras. The Green Wave are looking to snap an eight-match losing skid that dates back to March 16 – their last wins coming on a three-match win stretch over UC San Diego, New Orleans and Nicholls, March 9-14. Topping the Green Wave in the singles wins column are sophomore Hady El Kordy (8-7), sophomore Asaf Friedler (7-11) and fourth-year senior Luka Petrovic (7-12). In doubles action, Friedler is also 8-7 while seeing three different pairings this season. Rookie AJ Mercer tops the roster in doubles wins at 9-6 while working with five different partners.
