FORT WORTH, Texas — The Roadrunners fell short to the TCU Horned Frogs 5-4 on Tuesday, Apr. 1, at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.

In the bottom of the second, TCU took a 3-0 lead scoring the first run on a wild pitch with the bases loaded. They scored the second run on a ground out and the third on an infield single.
UTSA threatened in the top of the third, loading the bases. Norris McClure got things started for the Roadrunners as he singled to third base. Nathan Hodge was walked and Caden Miller was hit by the pitch. With bases loaded, James Taussig drew a walk to give UTSA its first run of the ballgame.
In the fifth, UTSA put up three runs to take a 4-3 lead. McClure started it off once again with a single. N. Hodge followed that up with a single of his own. McClure was then thrown out at second, leaving N. Hodge on first before he advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Miller singled through the right side to put N. Hodge on third. Lytle was hit by the pitch to load the bases for Taussig. Taussig picked up his second RBI of the night on a ground out to the second baseman. The Roadrunners we able to tie the game up on a wild pitch that allowed Miller to score. With Lytle on third, Drew Detlefsen was able to reach on an error scoring Lytle putting UTSA up 4-3.
The UTSA lead did not last long as TCU tied it up in the bottom of the fifth on a leadoff home run to make the game tied at 4-4.
TCU led the bottom of the ninth off with a lead-off double. A passed ball advanced the runner to third. Leading the way for a sacrifice fly to be hit, giving TCU the 5-4 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Taussig had two RBIs for his seventh multi-RBI game of the season.
- McClure recorded three hits in tonight’s game for his eighth multi-hit game of the season.
- Jordan Ballin extended his hit streak to four games.
- Mason Lytle has now reached base safely in 11 straight games which is the most on the team.
