CLEARWATER, Fla. — Roadrunners fall 10-6 to the Tulane Green Wave in their second game in the American Athletic Conference Championship. UTSA will now play Florida Atlantic in an elimination game at noon on Friday, May 23, at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Fla.

In the top of the third, Tulane took an early lead, scoring two runs on a double. They then scored two more on a home run to left field. The Roadrunners answered in the bottom half as Lorenzo Morresi picked up the first UTSA hit of the day on a double. He was then brought home on a double by Mason Lytle. Norris McClure singled through the left side with two outs, allowing Lytle to score, cutting the deficit to 4-2.
In the top of the fourth, Tulane added one more run on a solo homer to left field to go up by three.
In the bottom of the fifth, Lytle picks up his second home run of the tournament and second RBI of the game to put UTSA down by two. The Green Wave answered with another solo homer to go up 6-3 over UTSA in the top of the sixth.
In the bottom half of the sixth, Andrew Stucky led off the inning with a single to right field. James Taussig followed that off with another single to right field, advancing Stucky to third. Freshman Caden Miller singled to left field to score Stucky and put Taussig on second. Ty Hodge drew a walk after falling behind 0-2, loading the bases. Morresi came up big for UTSA as he singled to center field, scoring two runs to even that game at 6-6.
In the eighth, Tulane hit two homers: a solo shot and a two-run homer. They extended their lead in the ninth on an RBI single through the left side. The Roadrunners were unable to erase the deficit, falling 10-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Lytle had two hits and two RBIs for his 19th multi-hit game and 17th multi-RBI game.
- Lytle has now hit two homers in the two games UTSA has played this year at the American Athletic Conference Championship.
- Morresi picked up two hits and two RBIs for his seventh multi-hit game and first multi-RBI game of the season.
- McClure had one hit today, bringing his hit streak to 21, a team long, and his reach base safely streak to 25 games.
- Taussig has reached base safely in 22 consecutive games.
