American Athletic Conference announces kickoff times, television designations for selected 2025 football games

IRVING, Texas — The American Athletic Conference on Thursday announced a number of kickoff times and television designations for the 2025 football season, including for a handful of UTSA games.

The Roadrunners now know start times and broadcast networks for their first three games, as well as for a pair of Thursday night contests during league play.

UTSA will kick off its 15th season of football and sixth year under head coach Jeff Traylor against Texas A&M at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, in what will be a national televised matchup on ESPN live from Kyle Field in College Station.

The Roadrunners then will return home to host back-to-back games at the Alamodome for ESPN+ broadcasts. UTSA will face Texas State in the Battle for I-35 at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, before they match up with crosstown foe UIW at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13.

UTSA has two Thursday night affairs on the fall league slate, and both will be televised nationally on either ESPN or ESPN2. The Roadrunners will host Tulane at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 and they will travel to Tampa to play South Florida at either 6:30 or 7 p.m. Central time on Nov. 6 at Raymond James Stadium.

Additionally, UTSA’s road contest at Colorado State on Saturday, Sept. 20, will be televised on FOX Networks with a kickoff time and specific network announcement expected 12 days in advance of the game.

The American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game will air on ABC at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5. It will be the 11th consecutive season that The American Football Championship will be televised on ABC.

Fans can purchase season tickets online or by calling the UTSA Ticket Office at 210-458-UTSA (8872) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays. Current UTSA football season-ticket holders may renew their tickets by logging into their UTSA Account Manager.

Single-game tickets are on sale for the home opener versus Texas State as the Roadrunners will aim to break the program’s home attendance record of 56,743. As part of a limited-time offer, tickets are discounted 35 percent through June 25 in recognition of the annual Battle for I-35. Click here to purchase tickets online or contact the UTSA Ticket Office at 210-458-UTSA (8872).

UTSA students will receive free admission to all home games by downloading tickets via their Account Manager.

Merchandise commemorating UTSA Football’s 15th season and featuring the official logo of the milestone campaign is available for purchase.

The official themes for home games, as well as single-game tickets for the remainder of the home slate, will be available later this summer.

The Roadrunners, who boast a 29-3 home record in the Jeff Traylor era, are coming off a seven-win campaign that saw them come out on top in four of their last five games. UTSA started that stretch with the program’s first-ever win over a top-25 opponent in the 44-36 home triumph over No. 25 Memphis and then closed with a second straight bowl win in the 44-15 victory over Coastal Carolina in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.

Most of the remaining start times and television designations for the 2025 season will be made on a weekly basis through the season as part of the conference’s 12-day selection process. The most up-to-date schedule, with television designations, is available at TheAmerican.org.

The American Athletic Conference enjoyed a successful 2024 season in its first year of its current 14-team configuration. The American sent eight teams to Bowl Season and captured the Bowl Challenge Cup by virtue of a 6-2 postseason record. Teams from The American scored bowl wins against opponents from the SEC, Big 12, ACC, Mountain West, Sun Belt and Conference USA. The American was one of only five leagues (joining the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC) to have three teams finish with 10 wins last season.
