AUSTIN, Texas- Following the UTSA baseball team’s Austin Regional Championship, senior right fielder James Taussig was named Most Outstanding Player at the event, while four other Roadrunners joined him on the All-Tournament team.
Taussig was dominant across UTSA’s three victories, going 6-for-12 with five RBIs, a home run, and two doubles. Additionally, he posted a team-high 1.333 OPS en route to the award.
Along with Taussig, shortstop Ty Hodge was recognized after posting a .333 batting average with four RBIs. Center field Mason Lytle rounds out the position players to be honored, as the Pearland, Texas, native hit .308 and made several sensational defensive plays for the squad.
Both pitchers on the all-tournament team donned navy and orange, as Zach Royse and Braylon Owens were featured. Royse scattered three hits over 5.1 innings with five strikeouts in UTSA’s 10-2 victory over Kansas State on Friday. Owens, meanwhile, logged a gutsy four-inning save against No. 2 overall seed Texas on Saturday, allowing just one run and fanning seven Longhorns.
