Roadrunners add transfer guard Allette for 2025-26 squad

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men’s basketball coach Austin Claunch announced a second signee on Wednesday and another important piece of the 2025-26 UTSA puzzle, with the Roadrunners adding experienced Big 12 point guard Vasean Allette to next year’s roster for Claunch’s second season leading the Roadrunners.

“Vasean provides another outstanding three-level scorer whose passing and playmaking ability are even more impressive than his ability to put points on the board,” Claunch said. “He’s been an impact player on the international stage, has proven himself on the court in college and is hungry to contribute to a winning program that competes for championships.”

Joining the Roadrunners this summer at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Allette has racked up 51 games of Division I experience, including 25 starts in 32 appearances during his sophomore campaign last season with the TCU Horned Frogs. In Fort Worth, Allette was TCU’s most active shooter with a team-high 143 field goals, averaging the team’s second-highest average at 11.4 points on 37.5 percent shooting, while also collecting 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals from the guard spot. Allette registered 17 games in double-figures, and he led the Horned Frogs in scoring during nine outings. As TCU’s assists leader at 3.5 apg (113 total), he topped TCU in assists in 19 of the final 21 contests, including an eight-game streak to end the season.

Allette opened his career at Old Dominion in 2023-24, starting 18 of his 19 rookie-season games for the Monarchs, pacing ODU in scoring with 17.4 points on 45.2 percent shooting (35.4 percent from three) – also the leader in rebounds per game (5.7), assists per game (3.1) and steals per game (1.8). Allette logged six games over 20 points in his debut season. Originally from Scarborough, Ontario, Allette was the top-ranked Canadian player in the class of 2023 and a top 100 player in North America by 247sports for United Scholastic Academy. Named the Most Valuable Player of the BioSteel All-Canadian Game where he scored 30 points with seven steals and two assists, Allette was a standout in the 2022 Under Armour Association summer circuit where he averaged 29.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.6 steals. Allette also represented his home country on the international stage in the 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championship as he averaged 18.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists for Team Canada which won the Bronze Medal – earning All-Tournament “All-Star Five” selection for the event.

Coming up shortly on the calendar, Alette has also been selected to rejoin Team Canada’s U23 squad for GLOBL JAM 2025 in Toronto, Aug. 13-17 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. Canada will face teams from the United States, Brazil and Japan in the four-day international U23 basketball showcase.
