CONCORD, N.C.– The UTSA cross country team took on the 2025 American Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, as newcomers Ethan Carranza and Jocelyn Karry picked up All-Freshman team honors.
The men’s team posted a 9th-place finish, with 258 points and an average 8k time of 25:43.9. The women, meanwhile, were 12th in the 6k, with 341 points and an average time of 24:00.0.
Senior O.J. Ruiz led the way for the men, clocking in at 25:12.9 in 43rd, with the freshman pack of Carranza, David Zuniga and Austin Lyda not far behind. Carranza crossed the tape in 55th at 25:33.4, and Zuniga in 56th at 25:37.3. Lyda was 58th, completing the course in 25:40.3. Fellow newcomer Israel Cuellar was 82nd, in 26:35.8, and sophomore Diego Ramirez took 92nd at 27:32.0. Rounding out the group, freshman Michael Perez was 93rd with a time of 27:42.3.
For the women, Karry paced the squad with a 32nd-place finish and a time of 21:40.5. Classmate Madison Gilliam was 71st in 23:01.3, and newcomer Annaliese Munoz was 89th in 24:18.8. Junior Itzel Rojo crossed the tape in 95th, clocking in at 25:03.1, ahead of freshman Brianna Venegas in 97th at 25:56.3. Sophomore Megan Groeschel and newcomer Destiny Duenas finished things up, with Groeschel in 98th at 25:57.0, and Duenas 99th at 26:10.2.
