HOUSTON – On Thursday, UTSA Women’s Tennis hit the road, visiting American Conference foe Rice. The Owls entered with a misleading 4-3 record, boasting impressive wins and three losses to Power Four programs. Rice took the dual comfortably, handing the Roadrunners their second loss of the spring (4-2) and snapping a three-match winning streak.
Match 6
Rice controlled the contest early, taking two of three courts in doubles play. Celine Absawi and Laia Tarazona Peyro managed to pick up a 6-3 victory on court three, but the Owls took a 1-0 edge into singles action. By the time UTSA got on the board, the damage had been done as the hosts already held a 4-0 lead. Aoka Nagasawa was the lone visitor to take home a win, doing so via a 6-4, 6-4 margin on the fifth court.
