SAN ANTONIO — Staring down the final week of the 2026 indoor regular season, the UTSA track & field teams will travel this weekend to compete in the Don Kirby Elite Invitational at the Indoor Track at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
A party of 33 this weekend, (15 women, 18 men), the Roadrunners will leave the Lone Star State for the final indoor competition before conference, heading to Albuquerque, where UTSA has seen significant success in past seasons. Last time out at the Charlie Thomas Invitational in College Station, redshirt junior Jemuel Miller not only won the triple jump with career-best 16.42m (53-10.5) leap, but also broke his own UTSA record, set the Barbados National Indoor record and earned his second American Field Athlete of the Week honor. Junior Ida Breigan also picked up gold in the long jump with a 6.35 (20-10) measurement, while sophomore Mia Lien earned silver in the high jump while matching her season high at 1.80m (5-10.75).
Competition for the Don Kirby begins on the indoor track at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Friday at 11:30 a.m. CT, but the first UTSA field event is set for 1 p.m. CT with the women’s long jump, ahead of the men’s edition, weight throw and high jump. Friday’s track events begin at 3 p.m. CT with the 200-meter, ahead of the 3,000-meter, 400-meter and 600-meter races.
Returning to competition on Saturday, field events lead off again at 10:30 a.m. CT on the shot put, followed by triple jump. Running events open at 11 a.m. CT with the 60-meter hurdles, followed by the 60-meter, mile, 800-meter and the meet will close at approximately 4:30 p.m. CT on the 4x400-meter relays.
The Roadrunners are set to compete against athletes from Adams State, Arizona Christian, Arizona State, Arkansas State, Boise State, BYU, Central Arizona, Clemson, Colorado Mesa, CSUN, Dine, Fort Lewis, Georgia Southern, Grand Canyon, Houston, Jacksonville, Louisville, Mesa CC, Montana State, New Mexico Highlands, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Oregon, Paradise Valley CC, Pima CC, Sacramento State, SMU, Stanford, Texas A&M, UNLV, USC, Utah State, Viginia Tech, Washington, Western Colorado and host New Mexico – in addition to a bevy of unattached elite athletes, and athletes from track clubs and national teams.
