IRVING, Texas – The UTSA track & field teams have collected weekly conference honors in consecutive weeks, as officials from the conference office announced on Tuesday that juniors Jayden Williams and Ida Breigan have both been named American Conference Field Athlete of the Week for their respective genders – celebrating their performances at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational over the weekend in New Mexico.
A junior from Williston, North Dakota by way of transfer from North Dakota State, Williams was named the American Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after landing a career-best-matching 7.65m (25-1.25) leap in the men’s long jump at Don Kirby in Albuquerque. On the effort, Williams earned his first UTSA event victory while moving into a tie for the third-best UTSA all-time indoor long jump and recorded the second-longest measurement in the American this season. This is his first career American Conference weekly honor.
Breigan, a three-time All-American from Frederikstad, Norway, was named American Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after recording a season-best 6.41m (21-0.5) long jump measurement on her first attempt in Albuquerque. That mark secured the silver medal and extended her current lead atop the American Conference standings in the event – moving her up to 18th in the NCAA standings. This is her fifth career indoor American Conference weekly honor.
Williams, Breigan and the Roadrunners have wrapped the 2026 indoor regular season and are preparing for the upcoming American Conference Indoor Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex, Feb. 27-28.
