SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Athletics announced Tuesday a reimagined vision for this year’s annual student-athletes awards celebration – The Rowdy’s – set for May 6 at Pedrotti’s Ranch. The event will be hosted by Texas-based comedian Steve Treviño.
For years, The Rowdy’s has been a signature end-of-year event recognizing the achievements, leadership, service and competitive excellence of UTSA student-athletes. This year’s celebration honors that legacy while incorporating new interactive elements that welcome the broader Roadrunners community to share in the experience.
The evening will continue to spotlight UTSA’s outstanding student-athletes, while incorporating fan-engagement components such as new fan-selected awards, which will celebrate the meaningful connection that exists between the Roadrunners’ student-athletes and the community that supports them.
This high-energy evening will bring the long-standing celebration directly to the fans. Known for his sharp wit and Texas-rooted humor, Treviño brings a unique entertainment element to the event, making this year’s edition of The Rowdy’s unlike any traditional athletics awards ceremony.
“The Rowdy’s has always been about celebrating the heart of UTSA Athletics – our incredible student-athletes – and, this year, we’re excited to expand the event in a way that brings our entire Roadrunner Family into the celebration,” said Lisa Campos, UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics. “Introducing new fan-focused elements and welcoming a well-known entertainer like Steve Treviño honors the tradition of this event and strengthens the connection between our student-athletes and our supporters.”
Award categories will highlight standout performances, memorable moments, and fan-favorite athletes from across UTSA Athletics. Several awards will be fan-voted, reinforcing the role supporters play in shaping the Roadrunner experience.
Treviño, who has built a national following through stand-up specials, television appearances, and sold-out shows across the country, is widely known for his relatable storytelling and connection to Texas audiences.
“I’m excited to be part of something that brings people together and celebrates a community that clearly has a lot of pride,” Treviño said. “This is going to be a fun night, and I’m honored to help UTSA shine the spotlight on their student-athletes.”
The Rowdy’s will also serve as a platform to directly support UTSA student-athletes through NIL initiatives and community partnerships, while providing fans with a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.
Tickets, tables and sponsorship opportunities for The Rowdy’s will be available soon. Additional details, including award categories and event programming, will be announced in the coming weeks.
