CHARLOTTE, N.C.— Freshman Yonatan Sagiv picked up a singles victory as the UTSA men’s tennis team fell to No. 51 Charlotte, 4-1, at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex on Sunday.
The Roadrunners (3-14) couldn’t overcome the 49ers (12-6), after sophomore Enzo Vargas and freshman Timeo Bretin started off doubles with a 6-3 win over Ivan Deycopp and E Sanchez Bronzetti. CLT bounced back, as Moritz Muenster and Vasco Prata beat sophomore Oskar Grzegorzewski and newcomer Constantin Radu, 6-4, and Andres Medus and Massimo Pizzigoni took down sophomore Ben Chetewy Ungar and freshman Maximilian Ontiveros, 7-6 (7-5)
In singles, Prata beat Grzegorzewski, 6-2, 6-4, and Muenster toppled Ontiveros, 6-1, 6-2, to put the 49ers up 3-0. Sagiv kept UTSA in the fight with a 6-4, 6-2 victory, but Medus dealt the final blow via a 7-5, 7-5 win over Radu.
UTSA will next battle Troy at the UAB Tennis Courts in Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday, April 10th, before taking on UAB the following Saturday in what will represent the final regular season match.
