IRVING, Texas—On Monday, the American Conference revealed its batch of weekly awards, with UTSA redshirt sophomore Makayla Madrid earning Player of the Week honors.
Madrid was sensational across a win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and a sweep over Tulsa, hitting .467 with an OPS of 1.567. She posted 6 RBIs to go with two home runs and three doubles, also working a walk.
The Cibolo, Texas native becomes the first ‘Runner to be named Player of the Week since joining the American, and the first of any league since Celese Loughman won the Conference USA iteration on Feb. 25, 2019
This marks back-to-back weeks that a Roadrunner was selected for a conference honor, with freshman Arlette Hernandez claiming Pitcher of the Week honors on March 4.
