LEXINGTON, Kentucky – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its 2026 Team Academic Award on Thursday. A total of 1,432 programs across collegiate and high school volleyball were recognized in the announcement as the 2025-26 academic year came to a close. UTSA was honored as one of 284 NCAA Division I squads with at least a 3.3 cumulative team GPA on a standard 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale).
The Roadrunners maintained a 3.51 GPA across the most recent year, earning their 12th such award in its history, which dates back to the 1992-93 academic year. An Honor Roll selection a year ago highlights a three-year stretch for UTSA on the list. After totaling seven member schools on the list in 2025, the American Conference saw 12 of 13 programs earn the AVCA award this summer.
Including spring roster additions, 13 Roadrunners maintained an individual GPA of 3.50 or higher across their time at UTSA in 2025-26. Six such student-athletes wowed with marks of at least 3.97, including Miranda Putnicki, Caroline Tredwell and Alyssa Mantitzas, who will all grace the 2026 squad.
Head Coach Carol Price-Torok will embark on her fifth campaign at the helm for the Navy & Orange next month. After seeing Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Aug. 15) and Baylor (Aug. 22) in exhibition contests, the ‘Runners are set to open the regular season at Arkansas’ Razorback Invitational, first clashing with UT Arlington on Friday, Aug. 28.
