KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UTSA soccer standout defender Kameron Kloza claimed a spot on the 2026 IWSOC/United Soccer Coaches Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List, the organizations announced Wednesday. The announcement makes her the first UTSA player to be named to the overall National Player of the Year watch list in program history, listed among the 65 NCAA Division I women’s soccer players announced for early consideration for the top national award.
Already named to the 2026 United Soccer Coaches’ Defenders to Watch list as a third-year defender, San Antonio LEE High School product Kloza was the first player since 2022 named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region First Team and was the first-ever UTSA player named American All-Conference First Team at the conclusion of the 2025 season. Kloza logged 1,768 minutes across 22 games with 17 starts at defender, scoring the game-winning goal against South Florida (Oct. 9) in the program's first win of the series, taking 21 shots with a .381 SOG percentage. She also added a pair of assists on the year. Also announced on Wednesday that she will be a UTSA captain for the second consecutive season, Kloza was instrumental in one of most stingy defenses in the country, helping UTSA to the American’s No. 2 goals-against-average (0.90) at 52nd in the NCAA rankings. Arriving back home in San Antonio from Texas Tech ahead of the 2024 season, Kloza is a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree and has played 40 games for the Roadrunners, logging three goals, two assists and a .438 SOG percentage – leading the back line while UTSA has held a 0.87 GAA over the past two seasons.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation’s highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. It is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann, the legendary St. Louis, Mo., businessman and soccer executive who founded the National Professional Soccer League, the first pro soccer league in the United States which became the North American Soccer League. He was inducted in the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012.
The 2026 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women’s All-America Council from a list of returning 2025 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2026 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 4 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2026 recipient will be announced January 8, 2027, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
