Orange out slated for Colorado College at Park West on Thursday

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA soccer team (0-0-2) returns to the Park West Athletics Complex on Thursday night to host Colorado College (2-0-0) in the first of three consecutive home games. The program is calling on fans for an orange out, and with students back on campus for the 2026-27 school year, it’s the Welcome Back Birdcage Game. Kickoff between the Roadrunners and Tigers is slated for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Game Theme/Promotions
The Birdcage student section is expected to be rowdy in cheering on the Roadrunners with the first week of students back on campus for the year, and an orange out in effect against the Tigers. The fan engagement team will have orange t-shirts and orange bam-bams available for free while supplies last. Tláloc Mexican Food Truck will be available and Lonestar Soccer Club San Antonio is the club of the game.

About the Roadrunners
Squaring off with some challenging opposition in Texas State and then-No. 6 TCU across the first week of the season, the Roadrunners have opened up with a pair of draws, both games ending at 2-2 – showing the offensive prowess from UTSA with four goals in the early going. Through two outings, four different Roadrunners have one on the scoreboard, with sophomore Brooklyn Bailey and redshirt freshman Dulci Binns netting goals against TXST, while redshirt junior Aaliyaiah Durden and redshirt sophomore Ava Jackson added the pair at TCU – generating the program’s first regular season draw against a ranked team. Leading the team in setting the score with an assist in both games was redshirt sophomore Leah Varela – who received American Conference weekly honorable mention for her efforts.

The Roadrunners are averaging 10 shots per game, hitting a .450 team SOG percentage. Defensively, senior Jasmine Kessler is averaging four saves per game. The Roadrunners are one of three unbeaten American teams after the opening week of action.

About the Colorado College Tigers
Although not a household name in Texas, Colorado College opened their program in 1985 and has been a member of the Mountain West since 2014 – where the Tigers are picked fifth in the preseason MWC poll. CC is off to a solid star with a 2-0 record in wins over Creighton and Drake, both at home. Scoring two goals in her collegiate debut against Creighton and a third against Drake, freshman Ella Ashouri was named MWC Freshman and Offensive Player of the Week. After finishing 5-6-7 last season, the returning Tigers center on leading senior scorers Kendall Memoly (six goals, 13 points) and senior Finley Schoenbeck (four goals, three assists, 11 points), along with senior goalkeeper Regan Wallace, who had six clean sheets, an .802 save percentage and a 1.13 GAA in 2025.

Series history
The Roadrunners and Tigers have met just twice, and both outings have ended in a scoreless draw. First meeting in 2013, last season the Roadrunners traveled to Colorado Springs. UTSA outshot CC 12-10 while both teams registered five saves. UTSA’s school record nine-game unbeaten streak last season began Aug. 31 at CC.

UP NEXT: The Roadrunners will round out the week hosting cross-town competition in Sunday’s Glow Night and Salute to First Responders at Park West.
