A season ago, Baylor finished 18-10 overall with a 12-6 mark in Big 12 play. The Bears won five of their final six regular-season matches and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament, where they took down Arkansas State in the First Round before falling to hosting Purdue.

UTSA’s own Valeria Ortiz represented Arkansas State in last December’s bout after securing an automatic bid via clinching the Sun Belt Tournament title. The setter finished her matchup against Baylor with 21 assists and seven digs as the Red Wolves came up just short in a five-set thriller.
