SAN ANTONIO – On Thursday, Sept. 3, UTSA Volleyball will make its home debut in a free-admission morning match. In an all-San Antonio clash against UIW, the Roadrunners host Education Day for an event celebrating students and teachers in the area. First serve against the Cardinals is set for 11 a.m. from the Convocation Center.
Multiple schools from around San Antonio and the greater Hill Country region will be in attendance, with several hundred students expected at the contest. Once arriving at the Convocation Center, students will be greeted with a workbook, crayons and other UTSA merchandise to enhance their experience while at the match.
Both the Spirit of San Antonio (SOSA) and NCA D1A Champions UTSA Cheer squad will be in attendance, including the university’s iconic mascot, Rowdy. During timeouts and stoppages of play, students will be prompted with volleyball-themed questions and have chances to participate in on-court promotions.
Before first serve, several schools will take a tour of UT San Antonio’s main campus, guided by the university’s Campus Tours team. While Thursday morning tours are fully booked, additional or homeschool groups interested in attending the match are welcome and encouraged to inquire about a self-guided tour. Parking at the event will be free in Brackenridge Avenue Lot 1. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early as Thursday is also a normal day of classes on campus. Buses can drop attending students off before parking in either Brackenridge Avenue Lot 5 or in East Campus Lot 1.
On Friday evening, UTSA will host Tarleton State at 6 p.m. for a second consecutive in-state bout. The Roadrunners wrap up their UTSA Invitational against the Texans before welcoming three more foes in next weekends’ Roadrunner Classic (Sept. 10-12).
