Ben Pleasant joined the UTSA men’s basketball program in August 2024 as a graduate assistant under second-year head coach Austin Claunch. In his role, Pleasant assists with all aspects of the program, including player development, scouting, film breakdown, and on-court instruction, while also supporting daily operations and practice preparation.
Before arriving in San Antonio, Pleasant played four seasons at Penn State Beaver, competing in the USCAA. A steady contributor and respected team leader during his collegiate career, he was recognized for his basketball IQ, defensive intensity, and leadership both on and off the court. His passion for mentorship and player development has carried seamlessly into his coaching path, where he emphasizes discipline, communication, and mental toughness.
At UTSA, Pleasant works closely with the coaching staff to implement player development plans and contributes to scouting reports and video coordination. He also plays a key role in helping student-athletes build routines focused on consistency, focus, and growth throughout the season.
A native of Austin, Texas, Pleasant is pursuing his graduate degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio, specializing in sport performance and psychology. His background in both sport science and mental skills training shapes his approach to teaching the game and building confident, resilient athletes.
