Aparicio-Scallan joined UTSA in June of 2026 as Director, Applied Sport Science & Sports Performance Coach, working primarily with the women's basketball program. 

Previously, he served in a similar role at Liberty, heading all performance aspects of the baseball team across three seasons from 2023-26, while overseeing performance testing for all Olympic Sports. He won Conference Championships with the gold, track and field, and swim and dive programs, while helping multiple student-athletes qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials in swim and dive, as well as several National Qualifiers on the track and field team. 

Aparicio-Scallan spent a season with the Indiana Pacers, assisting them and their G-League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, with training camp and in-season performance. Key duties included player development and rehab throughout the campaign. 

Other stints included Head of Men's Basketball Strength and Conditioning at South Dakota, Head of Men's and Women's Basketball Performance at Long Island and Athletic Performance Assistant Coach at Houston Christian. 

Aparicio-Scallan graduated from Texas with a Bachelor of Science in exercise science, with a specialization in strength and conditioning, in December of 2017, and he received a Master of Science in sports management from Houston Christian in May of 2020. As part of his degrees, he completed internships with men's and women's ice hockey at Minnesota and with men's and women's basketball at Texas.
