Fabien Corbillon was announced as an assistant coach for UTSA track & field in August 2026. Corbillon arrived in San Antonio with over 25 years of coaching experience as a former decathlete who has participated in multiple national championships and had been part of 10 conference team championships. He spent the prior season at Lamar (2025-26), where he guided Southland Conference Field Athlete of the Year, school record-holder and conference heptathlon champion Mariam Buenanueva-Saleme. Four Lamar school records fell on his watch with the Cardinals. During the previous year, he served the multis and vertical jumpers at Maine (2025), dropping a pair of school records in Orono.
“I am incredibly excited to begin this new chapter at UTSA and to join a program with such a rich tradition of excellence,” Corbillon said at the time of his hiring. “I am truly thankful for the confidence that Coach Fox and Dr. Campos have placed in me and for the opportunity to help carry the torch and continue building on everything that has been established within this program. I’m excited to get to work with so many talented student-athletes, help them reach their full potential, and contribute to their success both on and off the track. I can’t wait to hit the ground running on the recruiting trail and help bring the next generation of talented athletes to UTSA.”
In two seasons at Kansas State (2022-24), Corbillon worked across the multi-events, vertical jumps, sprints and hurdles for the Wildcats, where he mentored 2024 Olympic Gold medalist Eugene Omalla (Netherlands) while also developing three regional qualifiers and six All-America honorees.
Prior to his time at Kansas State, Corbillion worked the 2015-20 seasons at Texas State as the assistant men's and women's track & field coach, where he played a leading role in guiding the Bobcats to three women's indoor conference titles, two women's outdoor titles, and a men's outdoor and indoor championship. Individually, Corbillion coached 26 Sun Belt conference champions, 63 all-conference honorees, five All-Americans, 27 NCAA Regional qualifiers, and a pair of USATF National qualifiers – with his athletes downing 12 TXST records and five Sun Belt Records.
From 2006-15, Corbillion was at Wright State, serving three seasons as assistant coach and then six seasons as head coach, where he posted tremendous success for the student-athletes under his tutelage. In his nine seasons, he instructed 20 Horizon League Champions with 77 all-conference performers, 203 Wright State record-breaking performances, nine Horizon League records, and the school's first-ever All-American and NCAA Regional qualifiers, in addition to nine USATF National qualifiers.
Corbillon, who grew up in Orléans, France, began his career as an assistant coach at Lakehead University (2001-03) in Thunder Bay, Ontario, followed by two years at Florida A&M (2004-06), where he helped the Rattlers capture the 2005 MEAC Men's Indoor and Outdoor Championships, along with numerous individual accolades and NCAA qualifiers.
A former track and field athlete himself, Corbillon was a decathlete who competed in multiple French National Championships, including a decathlon regional title in 1998. He holds a Bachelor's in Sports and Physical Education from the University of Orléans in France and a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Lakeland, completing everything but the dissertation on a Doctorate in Sport Psychology at Florida State.
