EUGENE, Ore. — The UTSA women's track & field season came to an end on Friday at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds, which were contested at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Four Roadrunners — sophomores Jessica Edwards and Eboni Johnson and freshmen Jhorden Hunter and Krystal Wynn — competed during the first two days of the three-day event, but all four were unable to advance past the first round.
Hunter was the squad's top finisher, as she placed 31st in the opening round of the 100 meters. The Missouri City native raced to a time of 11.87, but that mark was seven spots shy of a berth in Friday's quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Wynn leaped to a 18-1 ½ (5.52m) measurement in the long jump on Thursday, which was good for 41st place, while Edwards recorded a 17-11 (5.46m) and that placed her 43rd in the field of 48 jumpers.
Johnson wrapped up competition for the Roadrunners on Friday with a 45th-place effort (37-3 ¼/11.36m) in the triple jump.
"The girls got good experience for next year and, hopefully, they can build on it for next year," head coach Aaron Fox said.
