SAN ANTONIO — Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced Tuesday that three student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to join his program during the early signing period.
The signing class consists of Darionne Gibson (Converse, Texas/Judson HS), Rian Rodriquez (Caldwell, Texas/Caldwell HS) and Chase Whiting (Fredericksburg, Texas/Fredericksburg HS).
Below is a breakdown of the signing class.
Darionne Gibson, middle distances
Converse, Texas (Judson HS)
Top mark: 55.50 (400m)
· Two-time state qualifier in the 400m
· Ranked sixth in the state of Texas
· Had a near-perfect season in 2015, as she won all but two of her races
Rian Rodriquez, distances
Caldwell, Texas (Caldwell HS)
Top marks: 5:22.41 (1,600m); 11:56.75 (3,200m)
· 2015 District 21-4A Champion in the 1,600m and 3,200m
· 2014 District 21-4A Cross Country Champion
Chase Whiting, multis
Fredericksburg, Texas (Fredericksburg HS)
· 2015 District 29-4A Champion in four events (sprints/jumps)
· 2015 District 29-4A second-place finisher in the 300m hurdles
· 2015 District 29-4A third-place finisher in the 100m hurdles
· Won seven consecutive races in the 100m hurdles during the 2015 season
