SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA cross country program has released its 2016 schedule and the slate features three meets in the state of Texas, one in California and postseason competition in both North Carolina, Arkansas and Indiana.
"We are excited about our schedule this year," Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox said. "We will test ourselves early at the Texas A&M meets and the Texas Invitational. Before postseason competition, we will head out to California for the Bronco Invitational. We will face great competition out there that should prepare us for the Conference USA and NCAA Regional meets."
The Roadrunners will open the campaign on Friday, Sept. 2, at the Aggie Opener in College Station and that will be followed two weeks later with a trip to Austin for the Texas Invitational (Sept. 16).
UTSA then will return to College Station the following Saturday (Sept. 24) for the Texas A&M Invitational.
After a three-week break, the Birds will head out to the West Coast for the Bronco Invitational, which is scheduled for Oct. 15, in what will be their final tune-up for the postseason.
Postseason competition will begin on Oct. 29 in Concord, N.C., with the Conference USA Championships. The Roadrunners men finished sixth at last year's league meet, while the women were eighth.
The NCAA South Central Regional is slated for Nov. 11 in Fayetteville, Ark., and the NCAA Championships are scheduled the following week (Nov. 19) in Terre Haute, Ind.
