HOUSTON — N'Dia Warren-Jacques registered a second-place performance in the shot put to lead the UTSA women's track & field team during Saturday's final day of this weekend's Houston Invitational.
Warren-Jacques picked up her silver medal with a season-long measurement of 47-7 ¾ (14.52m) on her sixth and final attempt of the day. The junior transfer from Texas ranks second on the program's all-time performance chart and fifth on this year's Conference USA leaderboard. Sam Houston State's Kristine Hanks topped the the field of 27 competitors with her mark of 48-0 ½ (14.64m).
"I felt I threw exceptional in the shot put today," Warren-Jacques said. "I am looking forward to the next meet so I can continue to try to advance my PR."
Meanwhile, Mia Hicks and Maia Campbell placed fifth and 11th, respectively, in the shot. Hicks recorded a toss of 45-7 ¼ (13.90m), while Campbell registered a season-best 42-2 ¼ (12.86m).
Three Roadrunners also had three other top-10 results during the meet's final day.
Sydney Laudwig finished eighth in high jump (5-3/1.60m), Lynette Amaram also was eighth in the 800 meters (2:19.85) and Yulisa Abundis crossed the finish line 10th in the 3k (10:27.06).
"We had great performances the last two days," Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox said. "The team is making great strides every week and we are looking forward to going to New York next weekend."
The Roadrunners will travel to New York City next weekend for the two-day Armory Invitational, which is scheduled to begin next Friday, Feb. 3.
