AUSTIN — The UTSA women's track & field team concluded competition at this weekend's NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds on Saturday.
The 1,600-meter relay quartet of Jennifer Arinze, Paige Patterson, Sierra Andres and Chelsea Taylor passed the baton in 3:36.98, which now stands as the second-best performance in program history, but it ranked 15th in the field of 23 and only 12 squads advanced to the national semifinals in Eugene, Ore.
"This is a bittersweet moment, as I just finished my last race ever," Taylor said. "I am so blessed to have been a runner on this relay for the last four years and so proud that we finished the season and my career with a personal record."
The Roadrunners also had two athletes compete in field events during the final day of the three-day meet.
N'Dia Warren-Jacques registered a measurement of 47-4 ¼ (14.43m) in the shot put and that ranked 42nd in the field of 47 throwers.
Meanwhile, Elesha Alyn skipped to a wind-aided leap of 38-10 ½ (11.85m) in the triple jump, which was good for 42nd in the field 47.
"We had a great meet and I am extremely pleased with how all of our athletes competed," Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox said. "We were in the mix with some great athletes from quality teams."
This weekend's meet concluded UTSA's outdoor campaign.
