SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced the signing of British decathlete Jack Turner as the first member of the Roadrunners' 2019 recruiting class. Turner is the British u18 decathlon record holder and currently ranks sixth in the world.

Turner became the English Schools u17 octathlon champion in 2017 when he won gold in Boston, Lincolnshire, at the age of 16. Turner went on to represent England at the Schools International Athletics Board (SIAB) Home Internationals in Glasgow, Scotland, where he won silver in the indoor pentathlon.
In 2018, Turner won his first-ever decathlon at the Somerset County Championships. He then competed in the England National Championships winning the u18 British Standards competition and exceeding the European entry standard. This led to him being selected to Team Great Britain for the European Championships in Hungary where he set the u18 British decathlon record.
Turner later competed in his first u20 decathlon where he earned the gold medal and another national title.
At the end of the 2018 outdoor season Turner is ranked sixth in Europe and sixth in the world in the u18 decathlon, along with being ranked fourth in the UK for u20 decathlon.
