Women's hoops signs Gulf Coast State transfer

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA women's basketball head coach Karen Aston announced the signing of Ndeye "Lebou" Ciss on Friday.

"As we continue to add quality players and young women to the program, I am once again thrilled to welcome Lebou to our family," Aston said. "She comes from a traditional powerhouse in junior college where the expectations are high. As everyone knows, COVID had a huge impact on the junior college season and Lebou hasn't even come close to her potential. I'm so excited to be able to mentor her and watch her grow on and off the court. Her energy and personality is contagious and she will fit perfectly here at UTSA."

Ciss transfers to UTSA from Gulf Coast State College where she played for head coach Cayla Petree the last two seasons.

"I am so excited for Lebou to be a part of the Roadrunner family," Petree said. "This is a perfect fit. With Lebou's athleticism and work ethic combined with the player development plan of Coach Aston, there is no doubt that she will do big things over the next three years."

With the Commodores, Ciss averaged seven points and five rebounds, while also posting a field goal percentage of 49. She helped them finish the 2020-21 season with a 12-10 overall record and qualify for the first round of the NJCAA DI Women's Basketball Championship where they lost in overtime to Miles CC. She also earned all-conference honors.

Ciss joins Atwood, Ulabo and Coleman in Aston's first signing class at UTSA.
