SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team is set for a competitive weekend at the UTSA Tennis Center as the 60th ranked Roadrunners will host No. 49 Charlotte on Saturday at 11 a.m. and No.39 SMU on Sunday at 10 a.m.
UTSA (7-4) has had a solid first half of the season as they earned the No. 60 spot in ITA rankings with their match average sitting at 8.605, according to the computer ITA rankings. They were ranked No. 62 two weeks ago.
Currently, Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and Tiago Torres (Lisbon, Portugal) lead the team in singles wins as they both claim 8 wins and 3 losses midway through the season.
In doubles, Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) and Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) are riding on a five-match win streak as they sit at 5-1 as a team. Rodriguez and Torres share the same record as they are on a 4-match win streak.
Historically, Ceolin earned his 42nd win in his singles career last week against ACU, placing him in 8th place for single career wins in the history of UTSA men's tennis.
The Roadrunners are 2-0 at home with their last match against UTA on March 2.
