Boswell, Grimes highlight Thursday action at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas — Top-four finishes by Maddie Boswell and Mackenzie Grimes highlighted UTSA action on Thursday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
 
Grimes nearly matched a personal best in the women's 400-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 1:00.64 to take third place in the in University/College Division race won by USC's Maci Simmons (1:00.23). The Canyon, Texas, native was only 0.19 seconds off her PB of 1:00.45 registered last week in winning the UTSA Invitational.
 
Boswell became the program's No. 2 all-time performer in the women's 5,000m with a time of 16:42.99, good for fourth place in the 17-person race. A senior transfer from Texas, she now ranks ahead of Olympian Liza Hunter-Galvan (16:49.7) in her first race at the distance during her debut outdoor campaign as a Roadrunner.
 
In the top 400m hurdles division preliminary round, Alanah Yukich qualified for final with the seventh-fastest time of the day, a 58.46. The bronze medalist at this meet a year ago, she will race in the final at 5:35 p.m. Friday.
 
Abby Balli clocked a 4:35.69 to place seventh in the B section of the women's 1,500m. That time was just shy of her PB of 4:35.50 posted at last year's Conference USA Outdoor Championships.
 
In other action on the track, Gabriel Green posted a time of 56.06 for 29th in the U/C Division of the men's 400m hurdles.
 
The Texas Relays will resume on Friday. Longhorn Network will provide television coverage at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.
