SAN ANTONIO – UTSA women's basketball head coach Karen Aston announced the signing of USC transfer and Converse native Kyra White.
"I am thrilled to welcome Kyra to the Roadrunner Family," Aston said. "As a hometown product, she has pride in being from San Antonio and will not only help us on the court, but also in cultivating relationships with the community and building our fan base. Kyra brings a maturity with her that we will need at the guard position. She will be able to help in scoring and decision making on the court because of her IQ but also mentor the young ladies as they learn the college game. The thing I love the most is her winning mentality coming from Judson High School and San Antonio's Finest. We can't wait to witness the legacy she leaves here at UTSA."
White returns to the Alamo City after spending the last three seasons at the University of Southern California. During her stint the Trojans, White played in 77 games with 22 starts. She scored 138 points, averaging 1.8 per game. She also posted 131 rebounds, 49 steals, 25 blocks and 127 assists.
"UTSA is getting a true student of the game who is constantly working on her craft," former Converse Judson head coach Triva Corrales said." "A humble player who has always brought wisdom beyond her years. She is not only a leader on the court but also in the locker room. She is not just a great player on the court but someone who also carries an IQ to be on the staff. Kyra White brings all the intangibles it takes to win a championship!"
The guard is a Converse Judson HS graduate where she was named the league MVP as a senior. She was a three-time all-state first team honoree, selected 2016 league newcomer of the year and won the 2019 6A state championship. At Judson, White scored 1,600 points and amassed over 580 rebounds and over 300 assists. She also played for SA Finest.
