DALLAS – The UTSA men's tennis team closed out its Dallas-centric weekend with a loss to SMU on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Mustangs, 4-1.
The Roadrunners (2-4) split their weekend matches in the Dallas area, having downed UT Arlington 4-3 a day prior. SMU (6-3) moved to 6-0 on its home court, having only given up two points in six home matchups.
Doubles
In the first action of the afternoon, SMU claimed the first two doubles matches to claim a 1-0 lead and forced the third matchup to go unfinished with the outcome already decided. SMU's pair of Jack Winkler/Julian Steinhausen downed Tiago Torres/Tomás Pinho (6-1) to start the morning which was followed by the Mustangs' Antonio Muniz Hidalg/Liam Krall besting Garrett Skelly/Jackson Ross 6-3. UTSA's eighth-ranked pair, Alan Magadan and Sebastian Rodriguez, had their doubles match called off before completion as the two were winning 5-3.
Singles
Following doubles play, the Mustangs kept up the pressure, winning the first two singles matches to go up 3-0 and needing just one more win to secure the day. SMU's Pranav Kumar beat Rodriguez (6-2, 6-2) which was followed by Krall besting Alan Magadan (6-3, 6-4). The fourth match to finish was Danijal Muminovic who was able to secure UTSA's lone point of the early afternoon, as the Bosnian native took down Winkkler (6-2, 6-2). Torres dropped a tightly contested first set to Neff (7-6) before falling to him 6-1 in the second set as SMU was able to earn its fourth and match-sealing point. Both Pinho and Skelly's matchups went unfinished with the outcome of the dual already determined.

UTSA will return to action next weekend, Friday, Feb. 17 and on Saturday, Feb. 18, when it competes in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi.
