SAN ANTONIO – Having extended its winning streak to an astounding 12 consecutive matches, 37th-ranked UTSA Roadrunners men's tennis team (14-4) welcomes Denver (8-6) to the Roadrunner Tennis Center on March 22nd. UTSA is also honoring military servicemembers and military affiliated students during Wednesday's Military Appreciation Match.
The Roadrunners are coming off a three-win week that saw UTSA defeat Georgia State, 4-1, and Charlotte, 4-0, after closing out a four-match homestand on a 4-3 victory over Gonzaga. The Roadrunners opened the month of March with wins over No. 9 Texas A&M, No. 54 Old Dominion and No. 28 VCU, securing the program's highest historic ranking at No. 37 in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point. In total, UTSA has knocked off five top-75 teams during their win streak.
UTSA will meet the Pioneers on Wednesday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. for the Military Appreciation Match at the UTSA Tennis Center. The Roadrunners will recognize UTSA ROTC members prior to the start of the match. There will be food provided for all military servicemembers and military affiliated individuals.
Leading the way on UTSA's 53-36 singles record, McAllen, Texas junior Alan Magadan owns the best singles mark at 12-5, ahead of Bosnian sophomore Danijal Muminovic and Peruvian senior Sebastian Rodriguez at 8-6 and 8-4, respectively.
Meanwhile, Portuguese sophomore Tomás Pinho has collected a team-high 10-6 doubles record across four partner matchups. The Texas-native doubles pair of juniors Garrett Skelly and Jackson Ross are 6-5, while Pinho is 6-0 paired with Magadan and Portuguese sophomore Tiago Torres is 6-2 playing alongside Rodriguez.
Most recently teaming up against Gonzaga, UTSA's doubles pair of Rodriguez and Magadan remain nationally ranked at 24th in the latest ITA rankings following the March 21st update.
